A final cave worth exploring is the hillside cavern that faces the ocean near
the village of Krung Tanot. From the small village, walk 2.3 km along the narrow
and sandy road to the cave entrance, where local residents rent lamps for B30 at
the small wooden shelter.
With guide and lamp, you then climb the 280 meter trail until you enter the
mouth of the cav ern and slowly walk around the darkened interior while your
guide points out various stalactites and stalagmites named after all types of
animals. Tham Sai also features monstrous limestone domes and dangling stone
tentacles resembling prehistoric jellyfish.
