Hua Hin is 170 km south of Bangkok on the shorter freeway that bypasses Nakhon
Pathom and 238 km from Bangkok on the older route through Nakhon Pathom.
Train: Trains from Hualampong station in Bangkok leave nine times daily 0900
-2155. Two trains leave daily from Kanchanaburi. Advance reservations for train
travel south can be made at local agencies, including Western Tours on Damnern
Kasern Road. Travel ers without reservations will probably need to stand for
several hours until seats are vacated by departing passengers.
Bus: Buses from the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok leave every 30 minutes and
take three or four hours depending on the route and traffic. Buses terminate in
the center of town on the main highway or back one block on Sasong Road.
Beachside bungalows are a 10-minute walk away.
Travel agencies in Hua Hin can sometimes book direct a/c bus travel south to Ko
Sarnui and Phuket. Ordinary buses can be picked up during the day on Sasong Road
and in the evenings near the clock tower on Petchkasern Road.
